My Van Online

FAQs

Short answers for when you’re between jobs. The full sums are on How it works.

Check a job

What does “left after costs” mean?

It is the job pay minus the travel and van costs you entered, and any labour you chose to include. It is not profit. Materials, tax, insurance, overheads and other time may still need covering.

How do I include the drive home?

Leave the return journey switched on for the same route home, or enter a separately measured return distance when it differs.

Can I trust the estimate?

It is a quick estimate from your route and van details. Check pump prices, tolls, consumption and extra kilometres against your own trip and receipts.

What are van value loss and tyres & servicing?

Van value loss estimates depreciation across the trip. Tyres and servicing are optional costs per kilometre. Add your own figures in My van for an estimate closer to your work.

History and sharing

What appears in job history?

Free and Pro accounts can browse all their saved dockets. The history list shows the date, destination postcode and cost summary. Open a docket to see the saved job details, share it or save a PDF. Opening a saved docket does not use another quote.

Can I use a saved docket as a starting point?

Yes. Open the docket and choose Use for a new check. It fills the previous inputs; review the route, pump price and job details before generating a new result.

What happens when I post a docket to X?

X opens with a short message and the amount left after entered costs. Your job locations are not added to that post. Review the message before posting.

Google tools and fuel prices

Which Google tools are included with Pro?

Pro includes Google address suggestions, 40 route measurements and 40 fuel-price searches per month. Guests and Free members can open Google search links and enter their addresses, distance and pump price manually.

Are Google's fuel prices from today?

They are the latest reported station prices where Google has data. Check the displayed grade and update time. Automatic fill is available only for matching-currency reports from the last 24 hours. Location permission is optional; you can enter another town, state and country. Prices may have changed at the pump.

Community fuel prices

Are fuel prices live station prices?

No. They are member reports for an area, grouped by fuel type. The suggested price is the median of reports from the last seven days, with one current report per member and area. Use your receipt when quoting.

What should I enter?

Enter the price you paid and a town, county or state. Do not include a station address, receipt or personal details. US members enter dollars per US gallon; UK and Irish members enter price per litre.

Account and privacy

Do currency settings convert my amounts?

No. Currency is a display choice for the values you enter. Change the amounts yourself when switching currencies.

What does the crew leaderboard show?

It shows rounded daily cost totals and participation points for Pro members who opt in. It never shows job addresses, and you can leave it from your profile.

What does Pro keep?

Pro includes unlimited checks, saved vans and dockets, fuel reports, currency preferences and optional crew features. The plan price and account controls are in Profile. Read the Privacy page for how account data is handled.
